Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada o Ganga
O Ganga behti ho kyun
Naitikta nasht hui, manavta bhrasht hui
Nirlajja bhav se behti ho kyun
O Ganga tum Ganga behti ho kyun
Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada o Ganga tum
O Ganga behti ho kyun
Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada o Ganga tum
O Ganga behti ho kyun
Naitikta nasht hui, manavta bhrasht hui
Nirlajja bhav se behti ho kyun
Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada o Ganga tum
O Ganga behti ho kyun
Anpadh (अनपढ़) jan, aksharheen an-gin jan,
Khadhyaviheen(खाद्यविहीन), netraviheen(नेत्रविहीन) deekshamaun (दिक्षमौन) ho kyun,
Itihaas ki pukaar, kare hunkaar o Ganga ki dhaar
Nirbal jan ko, sabal-sangrami
Samagro gaami, banati nahi ho kyun
Vyakti rahe, vyakti kendrit
Sakal samaj vyaktitva rahit
Nishpraan, samaj mein hi daudti ho kyun
Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada o Ganga
O Ganga behti ho kyun
Rudasvini, tum narani
Tum nishchay chetan nahi
Praano mein prerna, banti mayi kyon kyun
Unmad avami, kurukshetragami, Gange janani
Nav Bharat mein Bheeshmaroopi, sutsamarjayi
Tum janti nahi ho kyun
Vistar hai apaar, praja dono paar
Kare hahakaar nihshabd sada
O Ganga tum, Ganga behti ho kyun

This lovely song with its beautiful lyrics borrows its music heavily from Jerome Kern's 'Showboat' masterpiece ' Old man River
lynxkat
It's the type of song I seeked for a long. Fully able to remind one what he or she is for there, in world. Tells the actual way to live and how much we far from it.
It is my most most favorite song.
This lyrics is not complete...
One of my all time favorite songs!
Dr. Hazarika is sorely missed
could you help complete it?
my fav too!
Best song to say us why we are silent, blind ....from my childhood I m listing this song (in Assameses) and every time I get inspire...he referred to louit (Brahmaputra) in the original Assameses version. Beautifully expressing his anger taking support of d river..
